The National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards measures a teacher's practice against high and rigorous
standards. First established in 1993, the NBPTS has certified approximately
24,000 teachers to date, which is roughly 1% of all educators. There are
currently 337 NBPTS teachers in LA. The certification process generally
takes over a year to complete, with most NBPTS teachers logging 600-700
hours for the entire process, including testing. Certification is valid
for 10 years. |
